Find YOUR Swimsuit

“Finding a tasteful swimsuit is almost impossible, forget finding a cute one.”

This statement isn’t true any more! There has been a rise in cute, covering swimsuits, that also have personality. So here are our favorites that will meet anyone’s tastes.

Classic: If you are a classy girl who likes to wear clothes that never really go out of style. Also, if you find your self attracted to things such as pearls, little-black dresses,  and up does’. This is your suit. The black gathers are figure flattering, and the style is ageless, giving the wearer a timeless look. So chic, and French, it screams taste.  If you are a classy girl then this suit is for you.  You can find this and other classy looks at modcloth.com.

Vintage: Do you find yourself longing for a time you never lived during? The gorgeous looks of time long past are all the rage now, and Old Hollywood glamor is everywhere. This suit, found at venus.com. It is so vintage, it’s in. Our favorite touch is the red bow at top and the adorable neckline.  It hearkens back to the happy days of the 1950’s, when femininity was in full swing. This suit draws the eye up toward the face, distracting from the lower, troublesome tummy area. We love this neo-vintage suit.

Flirty: Some girls are all sweetness, full of ribbons and lace. They are smiley and congenial. These are the girls we deemed flirty. Everyone is drawn to them and their infectious smile. To have a swimsuit that matches such a sweet personality, it must be frilly and bright. The roset on the shoulder just is too fun to forget. The diagonal stripes helps to lengthen the torso, making you look thinner and taller, and the ruffles at the bottom adds a frilly touch. This suit is fun and bright, perfect for the flirty girl. Find it at limericki.com

Fashionista: A fashionista is a girl who lives on the cutting edge of fashion. She lives, eats, drinks, and dreams in fashion.  This suit is all the rage. The sailor look is part of this seasons must haves, and the high waist is the front running fashion of next year. The white top/ dark bottom is the perfect silhouette for someone who wants to draw the eye away from their hips and tummy, and up toward the bustline. The style is not for everyone, but for our high-fashion girls out there; this ones for you. Another great from modcloth.com

Beach babe: If summertime is your season year round, welcome home. Some of us live for the beach, and find our style drawn to that state-of-mind. This suit is fun and beachy. The florals are so tropical, but not touristy. The darker top slims and hides an area we all are a bit self conscious of; the tummy.  The lower neck line is flattering, with out being too revealing. This makes us want to grab a surfboard and our hippy headband and live up life near the water. This one can be found at hapari.com

Well, we hope these swim suits inspire you to find a tasteful suit that matches your personality. Happy summer and soak up the sun.

We have been busy!

(Don'y worry, we're no this bad.)

(Don'y worry, we're no this bad.)

So as you know, Kristy and I are mothers.

Mothers are busy.

Life has gotten hectic, as it always does at the end of the school year.  I have learned that you don’t have to be in school for the end of the school year chaos to affect you.  You don’t even have to have children in school either.

I don’t.

And I’m busy.

The reason for this post is to show you some of the things that have been occupying our time, mostly in the past 72 hours.  It was 72 hours ago that we signed up for CinderBella Boutique (tomorrow and the next day)  that gave us 72+ hours to restock our inventory so people can buy our lovelies.

Even though Kristy had finals and I have been training for relay race, we found time to make over 100 headbands and clips and had a blast doing it.  Crafting is more than our hobby, it is our passion.

We just love to make simple things more beautiful.

Who doesn’t?

And who doesn’t like to be busy now and again?

I do.

* * *

So here are some of our pretties!

You can choose pick out the ones you want to buy at the boutique if you want.

Don’t forget, these pictures only show a few of what we will be displaying at the boutique this weekend.

So tell me, which handcrafted headbands and clips are you dying to put on your daughter’s head, or is a perfect birthday gift for your best friend, or you just want to keep for yourself?

See you at CinderBella Boutique!

Boutique in the Barn

Simply Memzelle had it’s first boutique!  And yes, our booth was actually located inside a barn.  We had so much fun and learned so much.  This may have been Simply Memzelle’s first boutique but it won’t be the last. Although  Boutique in the Barn was located in Tempe there were many visitors from Mesa (thanks guys!).  Perhaps it was the appeal of such a quaint location.

(I made this poster for this special occasion.)

We sold some old and new hair accessories.  You may recognize some products from our store.

This boutique had so many other great booths with such charming creations.  A favorite of mine was Lil Luna.  She does personalized vinal lettering home decor such as the one one below as well as many other cute things.  I was able to snatch a few of her products before the end of the day including ties for babies and adult headbands.

Another interesting booth was My Daddy’s Shirt.  The owner makes children’s clothing out of recycled adults t-shirts which guarantees that each item for sale is unique.

Next time you’ll have to see for yourselves how fun and enjoyable Boutique in the Barn can be!

Pearls, Pearls, and more Pearls

(modeling my pearls)

Dear Memzelles,

Has anyone every called you their pearl or have you ever heard anyone else called a pearl?  Because pearls are known to be rare and admirable the word “pearl” has become a metaphor to represent someone or something valuable or treasured.  So if a loved one calls you their pearl, take it as a compliment .  It’s just a confirmation of their admiration for you.

So besides wearing pearls, what else do you know about them?  Let me share with you some things I already knew and some things I learned about pearls.  A pearl is the gem for the month of June. Pearls can be natural – created without human intervention  and is very rare and valuable, or cultured, essentially man-made.  Freshwater pearls are form oysters whereas saltwater pearls come from mussels.  The largest ever found pearl was as big as a basketball. Pearls are not always perfectly round and come in different shades from pink  to black.

Audry Hepburn

Pearls have been worn all over the world for many generations.  Pearls are so versatile.  Pearls are made into necklaces, sewn on fabric, made into rings, earrings, and bracelets and even some Simply Memzelle’s headbands have pearl detail on them.  They go with most styles, fabric patterns, and colors.  They are timeless.  Who doesn’t have them and wear them?  From style icon, Audry Hepburn, to current celebrities such as Oprah and Keira Knightly array themselves in pearls.

Personally, among the great variety of pearl accessories out there, I only own pearl necklaces.  I would love  to slowly expand my collection by adding perhaps a pearl ring or a bracelet to go with my pearl necklaces.

1.   Metalwork corsage choker, $38

2.  Penny Black drops, earrings, $16

3.  Delila vintage carved coral class bracelet, $54.99

4.  Pearl and rhinestone bracelet, $8.99

These are some pearl accessories I saw and fell in love with.  I hope you enjoyed learning something about pearls and are inspired to dig out your pearls and wear them!  They’ll flatter you, I promise!

Why Simply Memzelle?

Why buy our headbands?

Headbands are THE accessory of 2010. They are worn everywhere, from Drew Barrymore walking on the red carpet, to Julia Mancuso sporting one in an Olympic interview. Headbands are number one on the list for “must have accessories” in this new fashion season. So, you may ask, “Why buy from Simply Memzelle?  Headbands are available everywhere, from Anthropology to Target*, so what sets yours apart?”

Here are the top 8 reasons why purchasing a Simply Memzelle headband is so worth it.

  1. Simply Memzelle headbands are 100% Unique: Though we may draw our inspiration from things around us, each headband is individually created to standout from all other headbands. Sometimes it seems that no matter where you buy an accessory, everyone else has it too. We also only make a few of each headband, to preserve its individuality. When you wear a Simply Memzelle headband, you know it’s a one-of-a-kind, and unique as you.
  2. Simply Memzelle headbands are handmade:  Our handmade headbands are more durable and higher quality then mass-produced products. We put a lot of effort into the structure of each one to ensure that it is sturdy and looks great, even after many wearings. So, unlike the last item you bought at the mall, our headband will still look fantastic after the first time you wear it.
  3. Simply Memzelle headbands make a great fashion piece: Have you ever had a bad hair day, or needed something more to complete an outfit?  We make headbands in all colors and styles. They work great to disguise your hair when it’s not feeling perky. So, even if you often have lipstick on your teeth or the eyeliner skills of a kindergartner, it doesn’t get any easier than putting on a headband.

  4. A Simply Memzelle headband for baby is best: For baby, it’s the best way to say “Hey, my baby is a girl” and a Simply Memzelle headband will eliminate those awkward moments when people ask if your sweet little girl is a boy. We’ve all had it happen. No matter what color the baby is wearing, people will ask. With a big flower on baby’s head, there is no room for uncertainty. Plus, babies wearing flowers are adorable.
  5. Simply Memzelle headbands are feminine: Too often it seems that women are forgetting their feminine side. Some men are more girly then most women. It’s time we women embrace the frills and thrills of being a woman. With ruffles and bows all over the runway and stores, pull out your lace and pinks, femininity is back and in full swing.
  6. It’s fun: Simply Memzelle headbands are all about fun, and what’s more fun than a big flower in your hair, or better yet, in baby’s hair? We all need to have more fun and do something for ourselves once in a while.  Marilyn and Kristy make and sell these accessories because they enjoy it. We love wearing them and hope you will too.
  7. Simply Memzelle headbands are a great price: With free shipping on every purchase, our headbands are reasonably priced. You would spend more on dinner out than on one of our headbands, and a headband always looks good on you. Compared to the same quality and style elsewhere, ours are the best price. Some headbands run up to $40. We try to make each headband to be as cost efficient as possible so more people can afford great style.
  8. We custom make headbands: Have a wedding? Need bridesmaid gifts? Or maybe you have a headband idea that you love but can’t find it or don’t have the time to make it. Contact us, and we would be more then happy to create one for you, and at the best price available.

There are other reasons why our headbands are a great deal, but why not buy one and find out.

A Little Pearl

Here is such a precious little shop that sells handcrafted personalized  necklaces.

So cute!  I love the fact that each one is so unique.  One of a kind.  This one is my favorite:

I can just imagine my chosen initials engraved on the hearts.  M and A.  Or would it be A and then M?  Hmmm . . . . I’ll have to think about that.  Anyway, this one is so me.  It even has XOXO’s on it.  Actually, if it were my choice they would all be XXXX’s because in England (where my hubby is from) they don’t to O’s.  But O’s are good too.  X means kiss, which reminds me that my hubby is the love of my life, and O means hug, which reminds me that he’s also my best friend.

If you have also fallen for these adorable necklaces you’re in luck!  A Little Pearl is currently holding a raffle for this precious necklace. This one is great because of the contrast of silver, gold, and pearl. It’ll also go with anything. Check out the the other products!

Rags to Riches

I’m always looking for ways to make something old more beautiful.

Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle isn’t just for Earth Day, right?

Instead of taking an old accessory to the thrift

store, try adapting it to the newest trends first.

Here are some ideas.

1. old purse made modern/vintage

By just using some scraps of fabric, trimming, buttons,

and a little bit of creativity, this typical purse became

a fashionable one of a kind purse.

2. embellished yoga top

This is a perfect example of how to take something seemingly ordinary

and make it more charming.

This example also uses snippets of lace, fragments of  fabric, and discarded buttons.

3. heart onesie

With some sewing skills a simple white onesie looks so adorable

dressed up with a little bit of fabric and some ribbon.

So think twice about what you discard.

You might be able to make it something beautiful

or use it to make something else you look beautiful.

Thanks to LauraReachel,  and Pears of Lemons for the inspiration.
